The CNC 3D measurements are performed by a coordinate measuring machine or CMM device (Coordinate Measuring Machine). It measures the geometry of the objects using the coordinate technology, or the detection of measuring points on the object’s surface.
Before the modern technology development, the product designs were relatively simple. This led to less precision in product design, greater dimensional tolerances and manual quality control. The latter, together with the production process, became faster and more efficient with the development of the CMM machine and the performance of CNC measurements. The CNC measurements also reduced the production costs, as well as mitigated errors in the measurement process, while ensuring the optimal quality level. In addition to detailed measurements, the machine also performs the CAD comparison, dimensional analysis and reverse engineering.
